Subscriptions and finance
Our Finances
Our Finances are managed and regulated by Sittingbourne Salvation Army. The Salvation Army carries out regular audits of our financial arrangements and our accounts are submitted annually to the group AGM and the Sittingbourne and Milton District Scout Council.
Subscriptions
Subs are payable weekly by all members at the rate of £2 per week.
It is expected that members will pay subs even for weeks on which they are absent.
Parents are encouraged to pay subs on a termly basis at the rate of £20 per term.
Cheques should be made payable to ‘The Salvation Army (Scout Group)’.
Joining fee
A one off joining fee of £5 is charges to cover the cost of Group scarves and badges. This is paid on the night of a young person’s investiture.
Annual census/capitation/insurance
This is set annually by the National Scout Association, Kent County Scouts, Sittingbourne and Milton District Scout Council and Sittingbourne Salvation Army. It amounts to approximately £28 per annum. This is collected through the weekly subscriptions.
Gift aid
Gift aid helps the Group to claim back money from Central Government against subscriptions paid to the scout Group. The rate is currently 28p per pound. This costs the individual nothing. The only pre-conditions are that the parents of the young person must be a UK tax payer. The gift aid collection is mamged centrally for us by the Sittingbourne salvation Army and gift aid forms are made out to them. They in turn ensure that monies claimed are set aside for the Scout Group’s use.
