September 20, 2007

Kyle Mortimer is our Assistant Cub Scout Leader (ACSL), but for the next six months he is using his gap year to take part in an exchange project with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).

Kyle will be working alongside seventeen other young people from the UK and Bangladesh. They will spend three months in Hounslow, West London and then three months in Rangpur, Bangladesh.

Voluntary Service Overseas

The theme of the exchange is developing youth capacity as community leaders. The team will work with young people in local communities to develop links that empower young people as leaders and influencers of their communities. The programme will address local youth issues and seek to provide viable long term solutions.

We wish Kyle well over the next six months and look forward to updates on his progress.

This will mean that we will be short staffed in the Cub Scout section. If you feel that you could offer the pack some time as a leader or parent helper please contact the Cub leader Graham Phillips on sittingbournesascouts@yahoo.co.uk

September 20, 2007

Wednesday 12th September saw the recommencing of the Cub and Scout Programmes for the Autumn term. It was good to see a full turn out from the young people. The Cubs went back to basics, reviewed their promise and some Pack ceremonies and made pizza! The Scouts eased themselves back into the swing with a games night.
