The Cubs attended the Centenary Gilwell Beaver and Cub Fun day this weekend. They joined with our neighbouring Salvation Army Scout Group, 4th Medway (SA) for the day.
The weather was unusually mixed for a Gilwell Fun day, normally there is nothing but sunshine, but today we had to contend with sunshine and heavy showers and a bit of mud which made the day that little bit more interesting. 8000 Cubs from all over the country are expected to descend on Gilwell Park this weekend and take part in a host of activities such as, climbing, abseiling, water sides, fun fair rides, fishing, rafting, ballistic missile making, craft, Archery, Medieval jousting and so much more.
There were two aerial fly past’s, one from the Metropolitan Police Air support Unit, twice during the day ‘India 99’ swept low over the camp site and just before lunch the Battle of Britain Memorial flight and three other spitfires swept away to the south on their way to the Trooping The Colour ceremony in Central London..
The young people had a fantastic day and came home tired, muddy and happy.
